Custom Cabinetry: What's The Difference?

When you choose Custom Cabinet Makers

Custom Cabinetmakers: We make your projects work!

Often times cabinet suppliers will use the word "custom" as a marketing term. But is it really custom, or just choosing from a list of standard options? When we say custom, we mean it.

  • You can have any frame style you want
    • custom frames can be built without seams between cabinets for a cleaner look and less wasted space
  • You can have any door style you like
    • Create a custom style all your own
  • You can have any size you need
    • Each cabinet is made to fit your space in any size or configuration
  • The cabinets can be built to any shape your project requires
    • Fit cabinets to sloped ceilings, odd corners, or curved walls
  • The trim on the cabinets can be made to match the trim in your home
    • Details in your home can be carried across your cabinetry for a seamless look
  • You can have any color you need matched on your new cabinetry
    • Match the trim in your house for a seamless look, or match your favorite piece of furniture!
  • Any configuration for your cabinet layout
    • Rearrange doors and drawers where YOU want them, and fit the interior with any available pullout or gadget you wish
  • You work directly with the craftsmen throughout the project
    • No salespeople between you and the person building your project means nothing gets lost in translation in creating your cabinets
    • With a custom cabinetmaker, adding a shelf or replacing a door (I.E. after the kids ran into it with a bicycle) is quick and easy

When you use Stock Cabinet suppliers

  • You pick from a  list of standard dimension frames and styles
    • Limited options  and any change from standard costs extra
  • You select from a limited list of door styles
    • Your "custom" job ends up looking like everyone else's
  • You select from a set of standard sizes
    • Cabinets are made in sizes easy to manufacture and are screwed together on the job site, leaving lots of seams and wasted space
  • Cabinets are rectangular boxes with a very limited selection of other options
    • Fitting odd shaped cabinets in irregular  spaces is simply not an option
  • You select from the manufacturer's standard trim profiles
    • A mismatch of styles and profiles is visually distracting in the finished project
  • You select from the manufacturer's list of color options and wood species
    • Matching a specific color or using an exotic species likely won't be available
  • You must select from the layout options from their list
    • Changes from their layout options will cost extra if available at all
  • You work with salespeople, not the craftsmen
    • Without hands on experience in the trade, salespeople will push you towards choices easy for them, not what is best for you and your home.
